I am quite fortunate enough to be an active member of First Baptist Kings Mountain, and privileged enough to have Brother Chip as my Senior Pastor … enough cannot be said of this Godly man. At present, Bro. Chip is doing a sermon series on the book of 2 Timothy. This past Sunday his message was from 2 Timothy 2:20-26 and at some point during the service, probably around point 2 or 3, my pen came out and I started jotting down a thought or two to make a worthwhile blog post. As a side note, I have to honestly admit, my mind was in church, but it was also playing a track from popular musician from the late 80’s (1987 is the exact year I believe). At the same time that tune was playing in my mind, I could not help or overlook the fact that my cousin did a cover of the same song back in 1998-ish that capitulated his band into the scene of “ROCK STARS”.

Please check out the samples below, and you will know exactly who I am referring to.

So .. back to the sermon .. 2 Timothy 2:20-26 … Brother Chip made a reference to the desire to have more faith. We all have been there and have asked this question if we are honest with ourselves. In order to quench that desire for more faith we have to be more in the Word of God = The Bible. If we are lacking faith, we are not spending time reading God’s Holy Word. This is strongly supported by the scripture from Romans 10:17, “So faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God”. Spend more time with God, the result will be more faith. I am not saying you are going to be more spiritual or righteous, but you will have more faith in what God asks of you and trust He will supply for all you needs out of your obedience.
